A Columbia man charged with Saturday’s drive-by shooting near McKee street park has made his initial court appearance, and remains jailed without bond.
19-year-old Marquez Elam is charged with three felonies, including first degree assault.
Elam made his initial court appearance on Tuesday via video, and a public defender has been appointed to represent him. Columbia Police say the drive-by shooting left the victim with life-threatening injuries. The incident happened on Orchard Lane, in broad daylight.
Court documents indicate the gunfire struck the victim in the leg. The victim’s condition is unknown. CPD’s investigation into the incident continues: anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
