19-year-old arrested after Columbia student hit by car while walking to school bus

A 19-year old woman is arrested after a Columbia elementary school student gets hit by a car on the way to the bus.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department says it happened on Ponderosa Street near Blue Acres Mobile Home Park in south Columbia Wednesday morning. Investigators say Nancy Metz drove past the bus with its stop arm out and lights flashing, and struck a 10-year-old kid with her car. The child was treated for minor injuries.

Metz was arrested and then released on bond.
