Columbia teenager detained for McKee street homicide

Columbia Police have detained a 16-year-old male juvenile for his alleged involvement in Saturday morning’s homicide on McKee street.

The suspect is charged as a juvenile, and remains in the custody of juvenile authorities. Columbia Police say he’s been detained for charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action.

More than 200 people attended Monday night’s candlelight vigil to remember 15-year-old Aubrey Doxley, who was shot to death Saturday morning. Our news partner ABC-17 reports Aubrey was lying in her bed at her home on McKee when the shots came through the window and killed her.

McKee street is located in northeast Columbia, near Clark lane.

Columbia Police say their investigation continues, and they’re asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
