Thursday evening is your opportunity to learn more about Columbia’s budget process.
The city plans a town meeting from 6-8 at city hall. Columbia city manager De’Carlon Seewood says the town hall meetings are an opportunity for you to learn how the city develops its budget. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions about the budget.
Columbia’s current budget is about $558-million. Mr. Seewood notes more than half of the city’s general fund expenditures are dedicated to public safety. That’s about $68-million. Personnel expenses are 82 percent of CPD’s budget, according to police chief Jill Schlude.
