Columbia unveils African-American Heritage Trail markers

Columbia officials revealed about half the markers on the city’s new African-American heritage trail on Wednesday.

The two-mile trail in central Columbia will note several key cultural places for blacks historically in Columbia, like the Sharp End Business District. The markers will cost nearly $55,000, but private donations will cover almost all of it.

The rest of the markers will be unveiled on Oct. 23.
