A December 1 jury trial has been set for a Columbia suspect charged with killing a man during a March 2024 argument in the Conley road Walmart parking lot.
Boone County prosecutors have charged 28-year-old Issac Everett Hollis with first degree murder and three other felonies.
The Columbia Police Department’s heavily-redacted three-page probable cause statement says “there were multiple people” in the Walmart parking lot when the killing happened and that an uninvolved vehicle was also struck by a bullet. It’s unclear if Hollis and the victim knew each other or if their altercation began in the parking lot. The probable cause statement says Hollis and the adult male victim began yelling and cursing at one another as they entered the entered Wal-Mart and again when they came out.
Court documents say Walmart security footage allegedly shows Hollis shooting the victim in the back as he was walking to his vehicle. Court documents say Hollis stopped briefly before firing additional rounds as the victim tried to run away. Court documents say the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
Boone County Circuit Judge Jeff Harris will preside over the jury trial.
