Columbia woman accused of arson sentenced to 7 years in DOC

A Columbia woman who pleaded guilty in an arson case was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

ABC 17 reports Tammy Nevels used a lighter to set a bed on fire in a home on Mohawk Avenue after she fought about paying bills with a man who lived in the house.

An older man and a teenager were inside the house when the flames broke out, but no one was hurt.

When Nevels was arrested, she had drugs on her person and later assaulted a Boone County Corrections officer.
