The sixth-largest employer in Columbia/Boone County says it will continue to accept Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance plans for the foreseeable future.

Boone Health spokesman Christian Basi tells 939 the Eagle that they have a very strong relationship with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and expect that to continue in the future. He also says Boone Health is using one of their subsidiaries to administer their own benefits plan for their employees this year. 2024 statistics from Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) show that Boone currently has about 1,580 employees in Columbia/Boone County.
Mr. Basi says Boone Health and Anthem believe they have a good agreement in place that maintains appropriate reimbursement levels for the hospital while keeping costs to patients as low as possible.
Meantime, Columbia-based MU Health Care and Anthem continue to negotiate to try to reach an agreement to renew contracts, which are set to expire on March 31. Both MU Health Care and Anthem have told 939 the Eagle that they hope to reach a mutual agreement to prevent disruptions for patients.
