Monday’s celebration begins at 2:30 at the plant, which is on West Route K. Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and Utilities director Erin Keys are scheduled to speak. There will be a short program and a ribbon-cutting, followed by tours.

Columbia voters approved the project in a 2018 water ballot initiative. City manager De’Carlon Seewood addressed the McBaine plant during his May state of the city address, saying the project will strengthen the reliability of Columbia’s water system.
