Emergency management officials plan to move a tornado siren from west Columbia’s Scott and Sussex to nearby Louisville park.

Boone County emergency management deputy director Chris Kelley tells “Wake Up Columbia” that access to the current site is difficult, when it rains.

“We’re basically moving the siren 54 site from Scott and Sussex due to the fact every time our service contractor goes in there when it’s wet or inclement (weather), he sinks into their back yard and damages their yard,” Kelley says.

Louisville park is located near Whitefish drive. Mr. Kelley emphasizes that there are multiple sirens in that general area.

He also says Boone County residents will soon see and hear five new tornado sirens.
