An $800,000 gift from the Veterans United Foundation will help Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) build a new Ronald McDonald House near Stadium and College in Columbia.

It will be within walking distance of MU Health’s new Children’s Hospital that’s under construction.

RMHC has sold the current Ronald McDonald House on Keene to the St. Raymond’s Society, with RMHC emphasizing that parents should be within steps of where their child receives treatment.

The new house will have 24 private guestrooms with private baths: the current location has 18 bedrooms. It will also include outdoor gardens, walking trails and play areas, along with a covered deck.

Families from 59 Missouri counties stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in 2021. 438 families were welcomed at the home as guests in 2021, for 4,113 nights.

Veterans United’s gift ensures that families who travel to Columbia seeking medical care for their child have a place to stay at no cost to them for years to come.
