While the proposed budget would be about $321-million, revenues are projected to be about $310-million, a difference of $11-million.

Officials at Columbia Public Schools (CPS) support the proposed plan, saying the budget meets all state requirements and that there is a planned spend down of fund balance in the five-year model that’s been built up in prior years.

The school board meets at 6:30 this evening at the Aslin building.

What’s next: The fiscal year for CPS begins on July 1, Columbia’s school board is set to vote on the budget tonight.
