Columbia’s state of the city address will take place on Friday May 23

Columbia’s city manager will deliver his state of the city address in about two weeks at city hall.

City spokeswoman Sydney Olsen says city manager De’Carlon Seewood will deliver the state of the city on Friday May 23 at noon. Ms. Olsen tells 939 the Eagle that Mr. Seewood will discuss highlights from the past year will also outline challenges the city is facing. He’ll address numerous topics, including development and crime.

Columbia’s current budget is about $558-million. Mr. Seewood says the budget emphasizes public safety: $68-million of the city’s general fund budget goes toward public safety.
