Columbia city offices are closed today for the federal, Missouri, county and city holiday to honor slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

GoCOMO, the city’s bus system, is not operating, and parking meters are not being enforced today.

Due to the continuing wind chill warning and to concerns about the safety of Columbia’s sanitation employees, Solid Waste officials have canceled residential curbside trash collection for Tuesday. It was already canceled for today due to the MLK Day holiday. Columbia Solid Waste will pick up trash from Wednesday-Saturday this week. That means if your normal trash pickup day is tomorrow, it’s Wednesday this week.

Columbia’s city council meeting has been moved to tomorrow night, because of the holiday.
