Commerce Bank one for one food drive raises more than $60,000

Officials from the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri are praising area residents for their generosity with Wednesday’s Commerce Bank One for One Food drive.

The food drive raised $61,6444, along with 7,000 pounds of food.

939 the Eagle provided live reports throughout the day at the food drive at Columbia Mall. The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri serves 100,000 people a month.

Mid-Missourians packed the parking lot at Columbia Mall, for the event. Zimmer Radio Group was one of the sponsors, and the Columbia fire department provided fire trucks at the event. Firefighters donated their time as well.

One listener dropped off a $10,000 check on Wednesday, and several dropped off $500. Many donated what they could, which is a few dollars. The food bank thanks everyone for their generosity.
