Commissioner debates location of potential river port

Where do you think a Mid-Missouri river port should be built?

Out near the Algoa prison on the Cole County side? Or across the river in Callaway County?

“They’re very interested, [and] have an excellent location.  It’s about three miles downriver from Jefferson City.  But we’re not locked in there.”

Callaway County Western Commissioner Roger Fisher sees pluses for both locations.

He says the south location has nearby railroad access while a north side port would keep a lot of heavily loaded truck traffic off of the Missouri River bridge.
