Columbia’s mayor says MACC plays a key role in local job creation and retention. Mayor Brian Treece spoke to 939 the Eagle at the recent ribbon-cutting for MACC’s makerspace lab on the Business Loop.

“Moberly Area Community College provides almost all of our workforce training for our very successful economic development programs,” Treece says.

Mayor Treece cites the numerous manufacturing along Route B, which is also known as Paris Road.

“You look at Route B (Paris Road) with all of the manufacturing at Aurora Dairy, new Swift, Dana Corp. All of those commercial engineers and electricians got their training and their start right here at MACC,” says Treece.

3M and Kraft Heinz also have plants in that area of Columbia.

MACC’s Columbia campus has a mechatronics program that provides training and skills needed for people to work in advanced manufacturing and technical environments.
