Congressman Long on joining race for U.S. Senate

Southwest Missouri congressman Billy Long is now the fifth Republican to announce a bid for the 2022 U.S. Senate race.

Long says his campaign staff includes former President Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, who is serving as his senior advisor.

“I’ve been putting together a world-class team and getting everything lined out and ready to make sure we could strike when the iron was hot,” said Long on Wake Up Columbia.

Long says he met with Trump shortly after announcing his campaign on Tuesday. It’s unclear if Trump will make an endorsement in the race for the open Missouri Senate seat.
