Columbia’s airport manager says reliability and on-time departures and arrivals are great at Columbia Regional Airport (COU).

COU’s Mike Parks spoke on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Round Table.”

“Those who have had a positive experience are a lot more than those who have had any type of negative experience in the last several years. The airline (American) has done a great job, we have a wonderful relationship with the airline,” Parks says.

Parks also says American Airlines will briefly reduce the number of daily flights from Columbia to Dallas from three to two in November. He says that’s due to the nationwide pilot shortage.

While COU currently offers flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and to Chicago, many COU travelers are flying to those two cities to get a connecting flight to other destinations. Mr. Parks has a detailed list of where they’re heading.

“So of course we get a lot to the east, out to (Washington) D.C. Phoenix, Orlando are some of the top spots. Vegas is another popular one,” says Parks.

Parks tells 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Round Table” that COU mentions these destinations when they have discussions with low-cost carriers or other major airlines.
