Council considers African-American heritage markers

It’s a light city council meeting on Monday night, ahead of Tuesday’s election.

The council is voting on 21 new markers for the African-American Heritage Trail. The two-mile trail in central Columbia will note several key cultural places for African-Americans historically in Columbia, like the Sharp End Business District.

The markers will cost nearly $54,600, but private donations will cover $52,500 of it.
