Council considers turn lane extension near Flat Branch Park

The Columbia City Council on Monday night looks at a $130,000 road project downtown.

There is a public hearing scheduled over whether to extend the right turn lane and sidewalk from Providence Rd. to Broadway at the southeast corner of the intersection.

That will be an entrance for the expanded Flat Branch Park. CVS Pharmacy tried to build on that corner but was rejected several times.

If approved, the turn lane and sidewalk work will start in the spring. Capital Improvement Program Sales Tax money is paying for the project. The Flat Branch Park expansion is expected to be done in time for Columbia’s bicentennial celebration in 2021.
