Council holds first reading on Columbia Mall changes

The Columbia City Council on Monday night gets closer to final approval of big changes at Columbia Mall.

The proposed zoning change calls for a new hotel on the lot at Stadium Blvd. and Bernadette. The old Sears store would split off and become a Dillard’s men’s store. Target is apparently planning to expand its location too.

The council has a first reading on the mall changes scheduled for Monday night. Final approval could come in a couple weeks.

  1. As I am elderly and don’t go to the mall as often as I used to……parking at the mall was always an issue, especially around holidays. Will this lower the parking availability?

  2. The city says it will, but there will still be enough spots to meet official requirements. -BT
