Court documents say a Columbia man charged with Sunday morning’s road rage incident at Range Line and Smiley has been listed in three previous road rage incidents.
Boone County prosecutors have charged 62-year-old Richard McDonald with two felonies: unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. McDonald is also charged with three misdemeanors.
Court documents say Sunday’s incident started just before noon near Wilson’s gym. The alleged victim says she saw the suspect speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Range Line, and the woman was in the left-hand lane driving north on Range Line. McDonald was apparently upset that the driver couldn’t get out of the way. He’s charged with waving a gun at the woman and another occupant in her vehicle.
Court documents say McDonald also has a criminal record in Iowa and in Colorado. McDonald’s bond is set at $30,000. He’s currently jailed in Boone County.
