COVID-19 Update: Sept. 3

Boone County reported another high number of new coronavirus cases Thursday, with 116. Of those new positives, 85 are 18-22 years old. 54 were released from isolation, which caused active cases to spike at 859. Hospitalizations dropped a little, to 39, and stay below capacity.

Mizzou is investigating more than 300 possible student violations of the school’s COVID-19 policy. More than 700 students have tested positive for coronavirus already. 516 cases are active, and 246 have been released from isolation.

Cole County had 31 new cases Thursday, with 26 more recovered, so active cases rose to 120. The county reported Wednesday there has been a total of nine deaths, including six at long-term care facilities.

Callaway County reported 26 new positives Thursday. Active cases fell to 103, with another 39 recovered.

Moniteau County reported its fourth COVID-19 death on Thursday. The person was in his or her 70’s. Audrain County reported its second COVID-19 death on Wednesday.

Missouri reported 1,397 new coronavirus cases Thursday. The seven-day positivity rate rose slightly, to 12.9%. Three more people in the state died from COVID-19, for a total of 1,545.
