COVID-19 Update (Aug. 17)

Active coronavirus cases in Boone County dropped on Monday.

Health officials reported 11 new cases of the virus, with 26 more released from isolation. That brought the active case count in the county to 299.

The weekly positivity rate on virus tests in Boone County was up to 11.1% as of Friday, and appeared to keep increasing during the weekend.

Boone County hospitalizations due to COVID-19 held steady over the weekend at 29, and stay well below capacity.

Cole County reported an increase of 95 cases since Friday, but officials say the numbers from the weekend are still pending.

Callaway County reported 15 new cases since Thursday. Eight more have recovered.

Missouri reported 1,148 new coronavirus cases on Sunday. There were 26 more deaths from COVID-19, for a total of 1,393. The seven-day average of positive tests is at 11.2%.

  1. It would be most interesting to know how many of the cases are asymptomatic; age range of those testing positive.
