COVID-19 Update (Aug. 26)

Boone County reported its seventh death due to COVID-19 Wednesday. The patient was between 60 and 64 years old.

The county also reported Wednesday a record daily increase in coronavirus cases, with 87. Another 42 have been released from isolation, so active case rose again, to 468. Of the 87 new cases Wednesday, 64 of them are among people ages 18 to 22.

COVID-19 hospitalizations went up a little and are the highest they have been in Boone County, at 43, but stay well below capacity.

The University of Missouri reported 228 active cases among students as of Wednesday, with 27 more students recovered.

Cole County had 21 new cases Wednesday. Active cases dropped slightly though, to 137.

Callaway County had 19 new positives Wednesday, and active cases rose to 94.

Missouri reported 1,426 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, and 10 COVID-19 deaths. That brings the death count to 1,450. The seven-day positivity rate rose to 12.2%.
