Health officials announced Friday a fifth Boone County resident has died from COVID-19. The patient was in the 65-69 age group.
Boone County added more coronavirus cases Friday than it did the day before, reporting another 27. The total active case count dropped to 202, with at least 40 more released from isolation.
Boone County hospitalizations dropped a few to 24, which is well below capacity.
Cole County broke its record for positive cases in one day with 26 new cases Friday. Twelve other patients have recovered.
Missouri added 996 new cases on Friday. There were 21 more COVID-19 deaths for a total of 1,301. The statewide positive test rate moved beyond ten percent, to 10.7%. The World Health Organization has recommended a positivity rate under 5% for 14 days before reopening.
