COVID-19 Update: Boone County reports 8th COVID-19 death

Boone County reported its eighth COVID-19 death on Friday. The patient was 70-74 years old.

Cole County reported two more deaths from COVID-19 Thursday. The county now has reported 14 total deaths from the illness.

There were 42 new coronavirus cases reported in Cole County Friday. Active cases rose slightly, to 138.

Active coronavirus cases continued dropping in Boone County on Friday. There were 79 new positives, but 105 were released from isolation. Active cases are now at 462 in the county. The health department said the positivity rate in the county is at 22.6% for the week ending Sept. 17. That is just below the highest mark that was set the week before.

Mizzou’s active student cases are down too, falling to 184. There were 28 new cases, but 46 recoveries.

Hospitalizations rose by one in Boone County on Friday, to 59, but remain below capacity. That number was at a record-high 61 on Wednesday.

Callaway County saw a decrease in active cases Thursday. There were 12 new cases, but the active case number fell to 148.

Missouri reported 1,795 more coronavirus cases on Friday. Another 23 Missourians have died from COVID-19, making that total 1,780 statewide. The seven-day positivity rate on virus tests rose to 11.7%.
