COVID-19 Update: Daily virus record falls in Boone County

Boone County breaks its daily record for the second straight day with 81 new coronavirus cases on Friday. More than half the new cases are in the 20-24 age range.

Another 93 were released from isolation, so active cases actually dropped to 311.

Health officials said Friday the test positivity rate dropped slightly for the week ending Aug. 20, from 11.1% to 10.6%. Hospitalizations in Boone County stayed the same at 31, which is well below capacity.

Cole County added 45 positives on Friday. Another 20 have recovered so active cases increased to 171.

Callaway County added eight new cases in the last two days and no new recoveries. Active cases increased to 71.

Missouri added 1,231 cases on Friday. There were two more deaths from COVID-19, making that total 1,419 statewide. The seven-day positivity rate rose slightly, to 11%.
