COVID-19 Update: New cases decrease in Boone County

The daily count of new coronavirus cases in Boone County continued to fall over the weekend and through Monday.

Health officials reported 16 new cases Monday, which is the lowest daily number in more than a month. There were 66 new cases on Saturday and 41 on Sunday. Active cases also dropped to 373, with 83 more released from isolation.

Hospitalizations in the county dropped as well, to 51, and remain below capacity.

The University of Missouri reported 35 new cases of coronavirus over the weekend. Active cases have decreased since Friday, to 154.

Cole County had a low new case count Monday as well. There were just nine new positives reported, with a combined 45 new cases for Saturday and Sunday. Active cases fell to 123.

Callaway County saw a big drop in active cases over the weekend. There have been 37 new positives since Friday, but 90 patients were released from isolation, which decreased active cases to 83.

Missouri reported 1,463 new cases on Monday. Twelve more Missourians died from COVID-19, for a total of 1,807. The seven-day positivity rate for testing in the state is at 11.6%.
