COVID-19 Update (Oct. 1)

Active coronavirus case numbers hold fairly steady locally.

Boone County reported 38 new cases on Thursday. Active cases dropped by seven, to 328. Hospitalizations rose to a record-high, of 71, but stay below capacity.

Boone County health director Stephanie Browning announced Thursday the current health order will be extended through Oct. 20. It was originally set to expire Oct. 5. The order says bars and restaurants must close by 10:30 p.m. each night.

There were 28 new positives in Cole County Thursday. Active cases went up a bit, to 133. Callaway County reported 16 new cases Thursday and many more recoveries, so active cases fell to 79.

Active student cases dropped a bit on the Mizzou campus, to 78.

The state reported 470 new coronavirus cases on Monday. Missouri now delays those numbers roughly three days for accuracy. There were five COVID-19 deaths on Monday, making that total 2,118. The seven-day positivity rate on coronavirus tests is at 13.5%.
