A woman is in the hospital after an overnight crash involving a patrol car.
Columbia police said in the early hours of Monday, officers were dispatched to a report of a tire in the northbound passing lane of Highway 63.
While one officer removed the tire, another was sitting in the passenger seat of a CPD patrol vehicle.
A car driven by Kylie Shepherd struck the patrol car and caught on fire.
Shepherd, a 25-year-old from Kaiser, and the officer inside of the patrol car were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The officer was eventually released.
The extent of Shepherd’s injuries are unknown at this time.
