CPD to conduct active intruder training in Columbia

You’ll see a law enforcement presence this (Wednesday) afternoon around John Warner Middle School in south Columbia, as Columbia Police and Columbia Public Schools (CPS) hold active intruder training.

CPS’ Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that the district doesn’t want you to be alarmed if you see a larger police presence at John Warner today: she notes this is part of regular and ongoing training for CPD officers regarding school safety and emergency/crisis situations.

The school is located on South Sinclair, south of Nifong, south of the D. Rowe’s restaurant.
