CPS: 20 percent of teachers have received coronavirus vaccine

Columbia Public Schools said on Thursday that 20% of its teachers have been vaccinated. They either are school nurses, work with medically-fragile children, or are in one of the state’s vaccine priority tiers (Phase 1B, Tier 2 or higher).

The district says it is encouraged by the coronavirus case trends. The average of daily case rates is the lowest we’ve seen since last August. It may take getting all teachers vaccinated, though, to return to a five-day-per-week, in-person learning schedule.

CPS returned to some in-person learning on Jan. 19.
