CPS administrator sues district claiming racial discrimination

A Columbia school administrator is suing the district for racial discrimination.

Jerome Sally has worked for the district more than 25-years and claims “systematic discrimination” kept him from hitting the salary level he should have.

The lawsuit alleges the district fumbled Sally’s salary schedule, and paid more to his white counterparts.

Sally is seeking back-pay for the amount of money lost in the mistake.

He currently works as an assistant principal at Hickman High School.

CPS responded saying, “Columbia Public Schools cannot comment about specific personnel matters. We are fully aware of the recent lawsuit Mr. Sally filed against the District alleging discriminatory practices. We firmly believe that the District took no discriminatory actions against Mr. Sally and look forward to fully defending the District against the allegations.”
