CPS to cancel three days of classes due to coronavirus surge

It’s a short week for Columbia Public Schools students.

Superintendent Brian Yearwood sent a letter last week saying that classes will not be in session this upcoming Friday, Jan. 21, as well as Jan. 24-25. Those days will now be teacher work days.

Yearwood says a surge in coronavirus cases has prompted the change. CPS will also implement a temporary indoor mask requirement starting Tuesday.

There are currently 3,261 active coronavirus cases in Boone County, which is one of the highest numbers since the pandemic began.
