All lanes are back open after a crash shut down part of the westbound lanes of Stadium Blvd. on Thursday afternoon, and caused delays both westbound and eastbound.
Investigators say 86-year-old William McDowell of Vandalia tried to use the emergency U-turn near the Stadium Boulevard exit and crossed both lanes of westbound traffic. A pickup hit McDowell’s car first, then a semi. Another semi wound up off the road too.
No one else besides McDowell was badly hurt.
