More than 80 agencies from across Missouri were represented at Tuesday’s funeral for fallen Boone County Fire District assistant chief Bryant Gladney in Columbia. The funeral was held at the Hearnes Center.

Bishop Robert Farr of the United Methodist Church spoke at the funeral, emphasizing the importance of taking one day at a time.

“You only have today. We plan, we plan, we plan for tomorrow, that’s fine. But the moment you have is now,” Farr says.

Bishop Farr says Mr. Gladney loved life, and lived each day in the moment. Firefighters and EMS personnel from across Missouri were represented at the funeral.

Gladney was killed in a collision on I-70 near Columbia last week, the fire district’s first-ever line of duty death.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation into the deadly collision that killed Mr. Gladney continues. The Patrol’s crash report says an ambulance and Chief Gladney’s vehicles had their emergency lights activated, when they were struck by the tractor trailer last Wednesday morning on I-70 near Columbia.
