Data center definition approved by Columbia’s city council

Columbia’s city council has voted to approve a bill involving the definition of a data center.

City staff members say getting a definition will allow Columbia to begin regulating data centers within the unified development code.

The council approved the definition of a data center. It defines it as a building or facility used for the storage, management, processing or transmission of digital data that typically contains computers, network equipment, systems, servers or appliances.
