Deer tag land regulations possibly changing

Your days of getting a farm tag for deer season could be over.

Conservation Deputy Director Aaron Jeffries says landowners may now have to have 20 acres instead of five acres to qualify for that free “any deer” tag.

“You really can’t raise a deer or turkey on five acres, and so we felt that increasing that to 20 acres would be more acceptable.”

The department may also require you to prove that you own 20 or more acres to qualify through an online registry.
