State transportation crews plan to demolish and remove Columbia’s St. Charles Road bridge over I-70 starting the weekend of Friday April 10.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says work will take place 24-7 from Friday April 10 at 7 until 6 am the following Monday. MoDOT is alerting motorists to expect backups and to plan extra time. While the bridge is removed, both directions of I-70 will narrow to one lane and motorists will be directed up and over the ramps at St. Charles road and back onto I-70.
The new overpass bridge is designed to accommodate three lanes in each direction of I-70. The work is part of MoDOT’s $405-million dollar project to rebuild and expand I-70 from Columbia to Kingdom City.
