DHSS: Technical issue causes COVID-19 reporting delay, daily numbers spike

State officials say a large increase in reported COVID-19 cases and deaths Friday was due to a reporting delay.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said some of the 304 new positive cases reported Friday took place sometime between April 16-22. The department also said the 44 deaths reported Friday also covers some deaths that were tracked between April 12-22.

Total positive cases in Missouri are now at 6,625, with 262 deaths.

Boone County is at 92 positives. Cole County is up two Friday, to 48. Callaway has 20 positives. Most of those patients have recovered, but one person has died in each of those counties.

Moniteau County is up to 37 positives for the virus. Saline County shot up to 144 cases. Most patients have not recovered in those two counties.
