The city has chosen Paul Eisenstein, who will begin his new job on Monday March 10. Mr. Eisenstein has worked at the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) since 2017, as has served as DED’s director of operations since September 2023. Columbia city manager De’Carlon Seewood praises Eisenstein, saying his relevant experience in economic development in Missouri will provide valuable insight into attracting new investments to Columbia. Mr. Seewood predicts that will create job opportunities.

The city held a meet-and-greet with Eisenstein and the other finalist,  Memphis’ Edward Hayes III, in late January. Mr. Hayes previously worked at Memphis Light, Gas and Water as economic development manager.
