Elledge case back in Columbia courtroom on Thursday; jury selection begins Monday

Boone County prosecutors and attorneys for Columbia murder suspect Joseph Elledge are back in court Thursday morning for motions ahead of next week’s high-profile trial.

Elledge is charged with first degree murder for the 2019 death of his wife, Menggi Ji. A judge will hear what are called Daubert motions at 9:30 this morning: Daubert motions are any motions to exclude testimony of an expert during a trial.

Jury selection begins Monday in Elledge’s trial. 100 potential jurors will be brought in on Monday, with another 100 coming in on Tuesday. Judge Brouck Jacobs will ask them what they’ve seen, heard or read regarding news media coverage of the case.

Judge Jacobs has set aside three weeks for the trial.
