A judge has delayed the sentencing for a Columbia man found guilty of murder.
Joseph Elledge will now be sentenced on Jan. 7, instead of Dec. 17, after the decision Wednesday. A jury last month found Elledge guilty of second degree murder in the 2019 death of his wife, Mengqi Ji.
Defense attorney Scott Rosenblum filed a motion this week to request a new trial for Elledge. That request will be heard by the judge on the sentencing date. The jury recommended that Elledge serve 28 years in prison.
