Expect heavy traffic in south Columbia Saturday for NCAA cross country championships

Columbia’s Convention and Visitors Bureau encourages area residents to be prepared for heavy traffic in south Columbia Saturday due to the NCAA Division 1 men’s and women’s cross country championships.

Teams and coaches from throughout the nation will be in Columbia, and hotels will be packed. The races will take place Saturday morning November 22 at the Gans Creek cross country course near Highway 63. The women’s race starts at 9:20 am and the men’s race begins at 10:10 am, and ESPNU will televise both races live.

Fans are being encouraged to park in what will be color-coded lots on Lemone Industrial Drive and Maguire Boulevard and other locations. Those locations are 2200 Maguire, 2800 Maguire, 2810 Lemone Industrial, 3101 Lemone Industrial, 4780 Discovery drive and at Fr. Tolton high school. Shuttles will operate at those locations from 6:30 am to 2 pm Saturday, except the Fr. Tolton location.
