Extra counseling at CPS after Battle High death

Columbia Public Schools says it will have extra counseling available this week after the death of a four-year-old at Battle High School.

The Highway Patrol says a Columbia officer was trying to park her police SUV on Friday and hit Gabriella Curry while she was on the sidewalk. The little girl died at a hospital.

A vigil was held in Curry’s honor at Battle on Saturday.

MSHP is now investigating what happened. The officer that hit the girl, 27-year-old Andria Heese, is now on administrative leave.
