CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that the district’s final enrollment last year was 18,801, making CPS Missouri’s fourth-largest district. The district today (Monday) will welcome incoming sixth and ninth-grade students to campuses for jump start day. Ms. Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that jump start day is a half-day for incoming sixth and ninth-grade students to allow them extra time to get used to their new middle or high school. She describes it as a transition year “for those students and giving them time to adjust helps with first day jitters of moving to a new, larger school environment.”

Baumstark also says CPS’ classroom teaching spots are filled and that they’re still looking for hourly positions in custodial and nutrition services and paraprofessionals.
