Investigators are trying to learn more about a fire at Columbia City Landfill.
Crews responded to an alarm at 4:29 a.m. Saturday at the landfill on Peabody Road.
They found heavy smoke conditions inside the building, but contained the fire to one piece of mechanical equipment.
An assistant fire marshal reports the piece of equipment malfunctioned, but why it malfunctioned is still under investigation.
No one was hurt in the fire. No word yet on how much damage was done.
