The fire caused heavy damage to the popular pub on North Sixth. Columbia Fire Department (CFD) spokeswoman Katherine Rodriguez told 939 the Eagle Sunday afternoon that the fire remains under investigation. 41 Columbia Fire Department personnel responded to the fire. Ms. Rodriguez says the building was secure when firefighters arrived. She says firefighters forced entry to gain access and some crawled on their hands and knees in low-visibility conditions to search for potential victims. There were no injuries.

CFD says the fire was contained to the kitchen area at McNally’s. Columbia battalion chiefs issued a second alarm for additional fire companies, due to the heat and McNally’s proximity to buildings downtown. The Columbia Fire Marshall battalion is still investigating to determine what caused the fire.
